Encinitas is
located about 22 miles north of San Diego. Incorporated in 1986, the city
encompasses Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, and Olivenhain in addition to “old”
and “new” Encinitas. The area well known for its six miles of beaches,
including Swami’s and Moonlight Beach, favorite gathering places for locals and
tourists. Two lagoons mark the northern and southern boundaries of the city:
Batiquitos Lagoon and the San Elijo Lagoon and estuary.
"New Encinitas" is
the fastest growing part of the city. Also known as the "El Camino Real
Corridor," New Encinitas development has exploded over past 10 years. With large
shopping centers, restaurants, car dealerships, and a variety of other services
and amenities, New Encinitas offers a relaxed suburban lifestyle, new housing,
and highly rated schools.
Encinitas offers a
variety of housing from the coastal craftsman cottages and bungalows located
along Highway 101, to the suburban bedroom community of Village Park along the
main shopping route of Encinitas Boulevard. Upscale luxury homes can be found
in the developments of Knightsbridge, Encinitas Ranch, Country Rose, and Bello
Mar. Mid-priced single-family homes include the communities of Quail Gardens
and Coast Point, while Summerhill, Cambria and Saxony are newer condominium and
townhome developments.
Olivenhain, part
of Encinitas, literally means "Olive Grove" in German. Much of the area’s
agricultural history has given way to new, single-family homes situated on
hilltop estate communities. Offering luxury homes with views to the Pacific,
Olivenhain is a great choice for those seeking some elbowroom and ranch or
spanish style homes built to exacting standards.
