The small village of Mt. Laguna is set high above San Diego in the heart of the Cleveland National Forest. At its peak, Mt. Laguna reaches 6273 feet above sea level, and is clothed in a pristine forest of pine and oak. Located just one hour east of downtown San Diego, this unspoiled location is one of San Diego's best kept secrets. The mountain is the perfect playground for hiking, mountain biking, camping, family activities, star gazing, or just relaxing.

Residents are few (just 70) in this mountain hamlet, but the views they enjoy are spectacular. Eastern views expand to the Salton Sea and drop 2000 feet down sheer cliffs to the Anza Borrego Desert. To the west, on clear days, the city of San Diego as well as the Pacific Ocean can be seen from roadway turnouts and mountain hillside trails.

Mt Laguna real estate primarily consists small log cabins built between 1930 and 1960, ideal for weekend living in a mountain getaway. The variety of terrain ranges from grassy meadows with small lakes, deep and lush forest areas to desert peaks on the east rim. Homesites provide country quiet and privacy, although its located only one hour from the sunny San Diego beaches and 45 minutes from the dry heat of the Anza Borrego Desert.

Mount Laguna Observatory is the main attraction, providing clear views perfect for star-gazing. Laguna Mountain Lodge includes cabins for rent, along with a general store and gift shop. A plethora of hiking, mountain biking and/or horseback riding trails, picnic areas and camping areas surround the area, particularly in Laguna Mountain Recreation Area and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Lake fishing is just 20 minutes away, as is Viejas Casino and outlet shops. The historic gold mine town of Julian is just 30 minutes away.
