San Diego�s northernmost coastal community, Oceanside lies along the I-5 corridor and is the last stop before Camp Pendleton, the largest Marine base in the country.  Located 16 miles south of Orange County and 35 miles north of San Diego, Oceanside has seen tremendous growth in the past ten years and is currently home to about 160,000 residents.  Well served by public transportation, commuter trains link Oceanside to San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles.

With three and half miles of beaches and the 1,000 slip harbor surrounded by restaurants, shops, and a lighthouse, the city lives up to its reputation as a lively beach community. The 1,900-foot long pier is one of the best known in California and the Buena Vista Lagoon serves as a wetlands preserve with hiking trails, special events and a Nature Interpretive Center.
